03-2020 | SMS GROUP: High current system for N°2 SHARC DC EAFs

BRAR successfully completed factory cold tests of busbars and Aluminium Power Conducting Arms for SMS Group. The scope of supply included the design and manufacturing of:

·       Water cooled aluminium busbars

·       Water cooled copper connections

·       Water cooled ONEcable's

·       Aluminium power conducting arms

for N°2 SHARC DC EAFs with a current up to 120kA.

 

According to SMS, the two SHARC furnaces have been designed for an annual capacity of more than two million tons of liquid steel, at a tap-to-tap time of 45 minutes and special SHARC design with the unique approach to scrap preheating, which exploits otherwise unused energy in the extracted waste gas.

01-2019 | BUSHAN Steel: EAF Power conducting arms

BRAR successfully completed the hot run tests of the Steel copper Power Conducting Arms at Bushan Steel.

The scope of supply included the design and manufacturing of power conducting arms for EAF, electrode 22". Manufacturing, cold test and assitance at site has been performed by our team Brar India.

03-2018 | Nikko: 80t EAF Al arms

BRAR successfully completed factory cold tests of the Aluminium Power Conducting Arms for Daido Steel in Japan in cooperation with Sumitomo.

The scope of supply included the design and manufacturing of Aluminium power conducting arms for EAF, with a special desing and equipped with Zinanodes.

BRAR successfully completed factory cold tests of the Aluminium Power Conducting Arms for Nikko Kobe project at Dahean Steel Busan.

The scope of supply included the design and manufacturing of Aluminium power conducting arms for 80t EAF, Electrode 24”, Current 60kA.

02-2018 | CERN massive copper rings, Muons and “Sankalpa”

BRAR successfully concluded the tests on thick and large copper rings for CERN, diameter 1.400mm, thickness 190mm to be installed at ATLAS experiment as Muons detector electro-magnetic shield.

01-2018 | NIPPON STEEL: High-current system

BRAR successfully completed factory cold tests of the high-current line for Nippon Steel & Sumikin Engineering Co., Ltd. (NSENGI) LF furnace.

 

The scope of supply included the design and manufacturing of a secondary bus bars, water cooled cables and power conducting arms.

The secondary circuit bus bar was made of water cooled copper tubes, 4 tubes/phase.

Water cooled cables were manufactured with additional reinforcements and protections.

Power conducting arms made of Steel-Copper clad material have been designed including the “maintenance deck” to help maintenance service.

07-2017 | New orders for Power Conducting Arms

Do you know what have in common the companies Ascotec (Germany), Inteco (Austria), Bokaro (India), CMC (Poland), Hosco (Iran), Nippon Steel (Japan)?

 

Simple... they recently awarded to Brar new contracts for the design, manufacturing and supply of new Power Conducting Arms (Steel-Copper and Aluminum) to be delivered within next months.

 

These new contracts confirm our Customers tendency to focus on maintenance and rennovation of existing electric arc furnaces to improve productivity.

06-2017 | Electrolysis busbar system

BRAR successfully complete the FAT tests of a new busbar system for an electrolysis plant.

The scope of supply included the engineering, manufacturing, delivery and bus bar systems between transformer/rectifier unit and electrolysis plant.

The busbar system included aluminium busbars, flexibles, supports, insulation for n°4 electrolizers 550 V DC, 4 x 18 kA. All busbars were protected with special anticorrosive painting, blue and red colours for anode and cathode.

Fire-break solution between the electrical room and the production area and electro-magnetic field monitoring were also in the scope.

We are proud to inform that BRAR India received a new order from ESSAR STEEL INDIA LTD. Hazira-Surat.

 

BRAR India will be in charge for the engineering and supply of a new Ladle furnace 160Ton, Electrode dia. 450mm including:

Nikko successfully concluded the hot run test at TY Steel Thailand. The Customer was really satisfied about operation and time schedule.

The furnace is equipped with Brar’s secondary circuit, water cooled cables and Aluminium conducting arms.

03-2017 | FERROGLOBE: Ferro silicon submerged arc furnace revamping project

 

 

 

BRAR successfully completed factory cold tests of the high-current line for a Ferroglobe ferro silicon 22MW submerged arc furnace. The scope of supply included the design, manufacturing and erection of a secondary bus bars, water cooled cables and secondary bus tubes on electrodes.

 

The secondary circuit bus bar was made of water cooled copper tubes, 12 tubes/phase. Due to large dimensions the lateral phases were designed and made in 3 sections to be brazed at installation.

01-2017 | New orders for Power Conducting Arms

New contracts for Power Conducting Arms for BRAR. Our Customers JSW, Bokaro and Bhusan in India, Ekinciler in Turkey e China Steel Taiwan recently signed the contracts for the design, manufacturing and supply of new Power Conducting Arms (Steel-Copper) to be delievred within this August.

These new contracts confirm our Customers tendency to focus on maintenance and rennovation of existing electric arc furnaces to improve productivity.

05-2016 | ERAMET revamping project of a Manganese submerged arc furnace

BRAR successfully concluded a revamping project of a Manganese submerged arc furnace for Eramet Group. The scope of supply included the design, manufacturing and supervision to the erection of a secondary bus bars, copper flexibles to the transformer, water cooled cables and secondary bus tubes on electrodes.

Furnace power was increased to 42MW and current intensity to 150kA.

 

The Customer successfully performed the Hot tests in December as per schedule and according to the contract agreements.

04-2016 | Monitoring WCC in EAFs & LFs at Bhushan Power and Steel Limited

 

Introduction

M/S BPSL has started replacing cables from 2009- 2010 and recently noticed unpredicted failures in Cables causing stoppage of Furnace.

M/S BPSL contacted M/S Brar India Pvt. Limited to submit the detail report of all cables in operation. M/S Brar India Pvt. Limited deputed team with Telemaster System and successfully made measurement of all cables on installed positions.

 

At present 4 nos. of EAF and 4 nos. LF are in operation at M/S

Bhushan Power and Steel Limited. EAF 1 , EAF 2 and LF1, LF2 were commissioned in 2007 and remaining in 2010. Two EAF

commissioned in 2007 are powered with 60 MVA Furnace

Transfomer and remaining two with higher capacity Trafo of 84 MVA.

 

Measures

Brar India team with Telemaster System and successfully made measurement of all cables on installed positions.

Measures with Telemaster at BPSL made in 3 steps:

Taking into consideration that in this case the nominal resistance value of a new water cooled cable is 57μὨ (Cable 3000 Sq.mm, 9800mm long) and it is usually suggested to change the cable when the resistance value becomes more than 85μὨ (150% of the nominal value), from the measurement values in EAF 1, 2,3, 4 that cables marked RED were to be replaced immediately.

 

Final Consideration / Recommendation

Thanks to these measures BSPL could arrange a preventive maintenance plan to change the cables with high resistance and avoid unpredicted failures in Cables causing stoppage of Furnace.

Furthermore BSPL confirmed they now keep records for each water cooled cable, schedule water cooled cables replacements well in advance avoiding furnace stop, increase productivity, prevent overload pf other cables in parallel and save power losses.

 

 

TELEMASTER is the new innovative system developed by BRAR to monitor the water cooled cables electrical electric performances, predict the failure in advance and reduce power losses.

Today more than 500 water cooled cables of 45 furnaces has been monitored by the TELEMASTER.

BRAR successfully concluded revamping project of furnace EAF ”A” and EAF”B” at Hai Kwang in Taiwan. The Customer was really satisfied signing the final acceptance certificate.

02-2016 | GERDAU signs the FAC for BRAR revamping project

 

In May 2016 BRAR successfully concluded the ladle furnace revamping project at Gerdau Plant in Columbia. The Customer was really satisfied signing the final acceptance certificate.

The scope of supply of the existing ladle furnace revamping included the re-design of:

  • electrode support arms
  • columns with roller guide and hydraulic cylinder
  • hydraulic power unit for the electrode regulation and for the complete ladle furnace
  • cubicle for electric control of hydraulic system
  • Supervision & Start Up.

01-2016 | New order by ERAMET

 

Eramet placed the order to BRAR for the revamping of submerged arc furnace in Scandinavia.

 

The contract includes the design, manufacture, supply, supervision services of secondary bus bars, water cooled cables and electrode bus tubes in order to upgrade the furnace to 42MW and

Despite the world crisis impacted heavily on metal and mining sector, Eramet to invest in this project to reduce costs and strengthen productivity.

Hot tests are scheduled for beginning of December 2016.

ТОКОПРОВОДЯЩИЕ АЛЮМИНИЕВЫЕ ЭЛЕКТРОДОДЕРЖАТЕЛИ 

Мы разрабатываем и изготавливаем классические и инновационные токопроводящие электрододержатели из меди/стали или алюминия.

Нашим подходом всегда было предоставление систем “под ключ”, заботясь обо всём, начиная со стадии проектирования и заканчивая производством и инсталляцией, включая  помощь на месте установки.

  

Материалы и структура

Алюминиевые токопроводящие электрододержатели являются альтернативой биметаллическим медно-стальным и используются в установках, в которых требуется свести к минимуму вес оборудования.

 

BRAR может предложить два решения:

> "Коробчатый тип”:  - Корпус электрододержателя, при этом,  схож c корпусом биметаллических электрододержателей "коробчатого типа". Охлаждающая вода в данном случае полностью заполняет корпус. Внутри такого “рукава” также имеются усиливающие элементы для компенсации давления воды и повышения механической прочности. Специальный дизайн внутреннего пространства также гарантирует быстрое движение воды вблизи внешних стенок, где происходит нагрев.

 

> “Профильный тип”:  - у BRAR имеется большой опыт в изготовлении алюминиевых профильных охлаждаемых электрододержателей, в которых охлаждающая вода протекает внутри перегородки, а не внутри держателя. Сечение профиля представляет собой формы "L" или "C" с охлаждающими отверстиями, изготавливаются из тянутого алюминия. В этом случае электрододержатель охлаждается только там, где необходимо, т.е. в профиле, через который протекает электрический ток, значительно снижая, таким образом, потребление охлаждающей воды.

По сравнению с биметаллическими, алюминиевые электрододержатели намного легче: "коробчатый тип"  - на 30%,  в то время, как "профильный тип" - на 40-45% легче. 

 

Значение реактанса сравнимо с биметаллическими держателями, а экономия электроэнергии может достигать 5%!

Для обеспечения хороших показателей алюминиевым электрододержателям требуется охлаждающая вода высокого качества (деионизированная вода с низкой проводимостью).

08-2015 | "Special" Aluminum power conducting arms

Aluminium profile cooled power conducting arms
 
BRAR designed and manufactured a new set of power conducting arms with cooled profile, where the cooling water flows inside the profile and not inside the arm. The extruded profile is "L" section with cooling holes, and it is made of drawn aluminium. In this way the arm is cooled only where necessary, in other words in the profile carrying the electric current, with a drastic reduction in the amount of water required.

07-2015 | BRAR supplier qualification by INTECO

Thanks to a long-term cooperation in design and manufacturing of high-current products and services, on November 2015 INTECO Melting and casting Technologies Gmbh Austria awarded to BRAR the qualification as supplier of CLASS A (min 83%).

BRAR achieved a total rating of 99% on Quality and Environmental Management, Market and Price, Engineering and Logistics.

 

INTECO is a supplier and partner to the steel and general melting industry since 1973.

06-2015 | New order for graphite furnaces

BRAR is completing the installation of high current connections to anode and cathode for N°6 graphitizing furnaces (current 110kA-DC) for the customer IMERYS.

The supply includes the design, manufacturing, assembly and expediting of the following:

> Connections with pipes made of heavy gauge aluminum, water-cooled, isolated and resinates to be positioned inside of tunnels under-ground.

The tubes have welded flanges to allow the assembly on site of the "bridge" connecting to the cathode. The connection to anode and cathode is made of flexible laminated aluminum.

 

The main target of the Customer was to make the installation in a very short time, so BRAR has designed and manufactured 25m long lauminum pipes conductors 25m in one piece, ready for assembly with a special handling tool.

Our special design (fit and remove cooled cables extremely quickly, reducing maintenance times and the relevant costs, in total safety for the operator) met immediately Customer requirements and nowadays has become a must.

 

This design is so good that today has become a standard also for some Engineering companies like SMS SIEMAG and our German Competitor (!).

METEC 2015, Dusseldorf

 

Saturday, June 20 ended the steel industry fair METEC in Dusseldorf. Great participation GIFA METEC-with more than 78,000 visitors from over 120 countries, in particular from India, Italy, Turkey, France and China.

Great success also for BRAR, present with an innovative stand that attracted many visitors interested in our products, specially the innovative Doctor CABLE.
Many visits of important customers to our stand, such as those of Naveen Jindal (Chairman of Jindal Power Limited) and Sajjan Jindal (Chairman of JSW Steel).

03-2015 | ITER Press-welded laminates

We are pleased to inform you of new supply contract for ITER Cardarache France, in relation to the experiment the world's largest nuclear fusion.
Our supply included a set of press-welded copper laminates of large size, silver-plated, which were mounted on the Coil Supply Section for superconductors high current test in China.


ITER (International Thermonuclear Experimental Reactor) represents the next step in the development of fusion energy. ITER will be the first fusion plant of size comparable to that of a conventional power plant, and has the task of demonstrating the scientific and technological feasibility of fusion as an energy source.

Brar Impedance Calculator Software.
 
We are proud to introduce our new Impedance Calculator Software for Reactance and Asimmetry calculation of electric circuits. The system has been developed in cooperation with the University of Padova and allows the reactance and asimmetry calculation of an electric arc furnace secondary circuit: from trafo to electrodes.
This is an unique and very important system to calculate the right parameters for a good operation of an electric arc furnace.
