CMS Clamping Measurement System

The contact force of the electrode on the copper plate is essential for the power conducting arms to work properly. The mechanical tension is produced by the cup springs acting on the clamping device. The cup springs are however subject to wear or failure, so it is very important to regularly check the closing force the cup springs apply.

Brar has developed the CMS (Clamping Measurement System), an instrument fitted in place of the electrode which measures the clamping force of the  cup springs. This measurement shows whether the cup springs are providing enough pressure or not.
By interposing special plates each CMS can measure a certain electrode diameter range.

Diameter Range Type

CMS3 300-400mm
CMS4 400-500mm
CMS5 500-600mm
CMS6 600-650mm
CMS7 700-750mm
